You don't necessarily need to speak Norwegian or German to get IT jobs in Norway or Germany respectively, but having some knowledge of the language can significantly enhance your job prospects.


Many Norwegian companies, especially in the tech sector, use English as their working language. This makes it possible for non-Norwegian speakers to find IT jobs. Norwegian Studies

In Norway, the rules are slightly different for the PR/ Citizenship eligibility based on the skills, background and nationality of the candidate.

If you are a skilled worker in the tech industry or university, you should complete 225 hours of Norwegian language training and complete 75 hours of social studies training. In a usual case, Norwegian and social studies is available as a package from a language school. You are not required to pass any tests in the Norwegian language or social studies as a skilled worker.

For Norwegian courses, the UDI approves a maximum of 12 hours per week and 48 hours per month. A course length of a minimum of 5 months is required, to meet the requirement of 225 hours.

The citizenship test is a requirement for Norwegian citizenship, and it's designed to assess an applicant's understanding of Norwegian society and their ability to integrate into Norwegian life.
